Solvents

Freeze-dried peptides (lyophilisate) have to be dissolved in the laboratory before you can work with them. That is why the Solvents category contains bacteriostatic water: sterile water with benzyl alcohol as a preservative, which inhibits the growth of micro-organisms in an opened vial. Plain sterile water does not contain that preservative. You can buy bacteriostatic water in a vial of 3 ml or 10 ml.

Not every peptide dissolves equally well in water, so always check the product information for the peptide in question. What bacteriostatic water is exactly, and how it compares with other solvents, is covered in bacteriostatic water explained. Which analyses exist for purity and endotoxins is described in purity, endotoxins and heavy metals. Each solvent vial also carries a batch number on its label. These products likewise ship from the Netherlands and are intended for laboratory use only.
